Can Harry Potter conquer Florida ?
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter was officially launched on June 18, 2010 and became an instant success.
The 20-acre island features attractions, shops and restaurants set inside such locations as the “Forbidden Forest”, “Hogsmead Village” and the iconic “Hogwarts Castle.”
The main attractions are “Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey”, located inside the castle and taking visitors through scenes inspired by the Potter films, and “Dragon challenge”, a dueling inverted roller coaster.
For younger guests, there is the “Flight of the Hippogriff”, a junior roller coaster.
There is also an interactive experience “Ollivanders” based on the Harry Potter location.
Besides the The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, there are a further 6 Islands to enjoy.
“Port of Entry” is the park’s main entrance and is home to many shops and services, including Guest Relations. The park’s iconic centerpiece, Pharos Lighthouse, is also located within Port of Entry. Each night, this real, functioning lighthouse sends out a bright beam to lead visitors to and from the park’s gates. There are no rides here but you can relax in a variety of restaurants and shops.
“Marvel Super Hero Island” has rides inspired by the Marvel comic books and focuses on thrilling rides such as “Incredible Hulk coaster”, “The amazing adventures of Spider-man” Doctor Dooms’s Fearfall” and “Storm Force Acceleration.”
“Toon Lagoon”, with it’s focus on water themed rides is geared toward both kids and adults,and features “Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls”,”Popeye and Bluto’s Bilge-rat barge’s”and “Mat Hoffman’s Aggro circus”
“Jurassic park” has some thrilling rides and has discovery-based exhibits, “Jurassic Park river adventure” is a highly-themed water ride and there is also “Pteranodon Flyers” , a roller coaster for the children as well as a play area and a discovery centre.
“The Lost Continent” is themed to ancient myths and legends, and is divided into two smaller sections. The first section is ancient Arabian marketplace called “Sinbad’s Bazzaar”, while the second is mythological Greecian-Atlantis style “Lost City”
A live-action stunt show called “The eighth voyage of Sinbad” is located in the ancient Arabia section and “Poseidon’s Fury” , an indoor special effects show, is to be found in the Mythological Greece section
“Seuss Landing” is specially geared towards small children and features a carousel, interactive play zone and and the dark ride “The Cat in the hat”
All in all, this is a fantastic park and is well worth a visit.
