i cant find a place to go to do an std throat swab why???
i would go to my primary doctor but i have zero insurance and i know any testing is expensive… plus i know the people that work there too well and its a little awkward.. i just wanted to have a throat culture for chlamydia…. i went to planned parenthood and not only does it take 2-3 weeks for results but they said they do not do throat swabs…ive called up a few std clinics and they said the same..
The reason why is chlamydia of the throat is rare; in fact, you are more likely to have gonnorhea of the throat than chlamydia. Our mouths are considered a hostile environment and not many bacterial infections occur.
Even the CDC doesn’t recommend throat swabs for chlamydia any longer. However, if you are adament about having this type of testing done. You should try your local health department (they normally have a clinical area) or you will have to contact your primary doctor.
