Skating Skirted
I keep getting really warm while figure skating?
I really am not quite sure what to do about this, actually. It seems I get warm on the ice very quickly, and very easily. To the point where it is uncomfortable. The shirt I currently have is a tank-top sort of skating top thing that I usually throw a sweatshirt over. I know if I take the sweatshirt off I’ll get too cold. So I’m trying to consider other things.
The thing I thought of was wearing leggings instead of pants, and just wearing a skating skirt over the leggings. I’m a beta level skater though, so I’m kind of worried about looking… Over the top I guess? But I am getting really warm. I also want to see if changing the sweatshirt I use will help but I think I’ll still get warm even with that.
Any other clothing advice? Will I look over the top with the leggings and skirt?
You won’t be cold with the sweatshirt off. It’s probably too thick of a sweatshirt. Get a thin hoodie to wear, and have a tee underneath it. I’m never cold when I’m wearing a tee and my jacket’s off, as long as I’m moving around.
Wearing leggings is fine! You don’t need to wear a skirt over the leggings, in fact I think a skirt and leggings together would look strange, skating skirts are normally worn with tights. I wore leggings or jeans when I started skating, and eventually stopped wearing jeans, and wore leggings, then bought a skating skirt and warmup tights, and I’ve recently ordered a pair of pants made especially for skating. They’re like legging material.
You’re going to have to eventually wear a short sleeve dress if you compete or go in holiday shows, so might as well get used to it. I swear, you won’t be cold at all unless you’re just standing in one place.
