How Hard is it to Learn to Dance?
Millions of people fell in love with Dancing With The Stars, and all of a sudden everyone would like to learn to dance like they do. Not to mention it wouldn’t be to shabby to have one of those good looking women or men twirling around the floor with you. It would be great to go out and find a dance course, but before you do you probably should prepare by reading the rest of this article.
What escapes some people is that there are basically two parts to dancing. There is the technical aspect and there is the physical aspect. We are going to start with the technical part first.
The technical side of dancing is not really that hard. You have a series of steps that are done in sequence to the beat of the music… usually one, two, three, four for most dances, or it would be one, two, three for the waltz. These steps can be any one of a variety of steps, front, back, side to side, and so on. Each dance has its own sequence and variations. The variations of sequences steps are what make different couples dancing the foxtrot look a little different. The thing is the technical part of dancing is having coordination and being able to memorize the steps.
You can’t compare the physical aspect of dance to the technical aspect. What man seem to be a simple dance step technically could be physically tough to master. One of the most exciting dances to observe is the Highland Dancers performing the Sailor’s Hornpipe dance. The steps in this dance look pretty simple technically, but in reality this is one of the most physically demanding dances to perform. Many of the dance steps you see on Broadway are way to demanding for most people, but you don’t have to worry about that is you just want to learn normal ballroom dancing, you won’t have to be in perfect shape
You can start dancing even if you’re not in perfect shape, and the great thing is if you do it long enough you will end up in great shape. If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the legs of some of those dancers. Dancing is not like all the other boring exercises, it is actually fun.
